Black and White Staircase Gallery Wall - @SuzyHomemakerUK

There’s a phenomenon called The Instagram Effect. In interior terms, it’s what a space in your home used to look like before Instagram and how it looks after you’ve been grammed to within an inch by the most gorgeous and inspirational Insta-worthy interiors.

Such is the way with the OneandSeventy staircase.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I LOVE a good gallery wall and OneandSeventy is home to several. From the gallery made of wallpaper to an almost fully-covered chimney-breast.

I can’t help it. A bare wall just screams DRESS ME!

And I do hate to disappoint.

Creating a Staircase Gallery Wall

Our staircase started out like any other plain old boring wall. Before Homesense blindsided me with an Instagram favourite – The Neon Peace Sign. Now we have a full-on staircase gallery and I think it might actually be my favourite yet.

Once I had the peace sign placed and plugged, the rest followed pretty quickly. From Insta-favs courtesy of Nickie Kelly and Pati Robins, to the obligatory hanging plant.

Because as every interiors grammer knows, no insta-worthy home would be complete without greenery.

Then, of course, there are the Suzy makes.

Well… it wouldn’t be a OneandSeventy gallery without a few of my own creations, now would it?

Maybe it's Because I'm a Londoner Art - @SuzyHomemakerUK

Like a very special date immortalised in ‘galvanised’ wooden numbers and “Maybe It’s Because I’m a Londoner” – a lyrical reminder of my roots dreamed up on a journey home from London.

Hogwarts Gryffindor Patch framed with Platform 9 3/4 Paper - @SuzyHomemakerUK

Art inspired by Harry Potter that makes use of the Gryffindor badge from a Halloween costume (had to get the H-word in there somewhere!) It’s also a two-finger salute to The Bestie who went to a la-di-dah private function at Warner Brothers WITHOUT ME and thought Platform 9¾ tissue paper would make up for it.

No. No, it didn’t.

There’s my little piece of dark Alice whimsy.

And memories of Hawaii – “Kuuipo” means “My Sweetheart” and Ku’u Aloha means “My Love”.

I made a surname and zip code monogram in celebration of our wedding venue.

And an ombré skull – the pre-cursor to the one in the bathroom… only better.

Then last but not least… the finest damn word in the entire English language.

I have more frames laid out in the office, waiting to be filled but you know what? I think it’s done. I really like how this staircase gallery has come together and I’m happy with the shape and content.

For now.
