Red, white and Pink.

Now there’s three colours I never thought I’d say in the same sentence.

But don’t panic! They’re not designed to be displayed together. Although you can if you so desire. Indeed, why not? After all, it IS Christmas. A time when all rules, colour combos and, sometimes taste (there I said it!) go out of the window.

Hopefully, you don’t think that’s what’s happened here, but horses for courses and all that.

If you’re still decorating and I know many of you are, have you thought about filling your own baubles? There’s already a ton of inspiration out there, so I thought I’d add my two penn’orth.

These babies are simple, elegant and, more importantly, cheap! They’re also super quick. I mean seriously, it took me longer to photograph than it did to make them! And all I needed was a set of Craft Your Own baubles (The Range – £3.99) and a few festive bits and bobs I had knocking around the house.

DIY Red Glass Christmas Ornament

  • Fillable Glass or Plastic Christmas Ornament
  • Festive Red Pipe Cleaner – similar here
  • Red Ribbon to hang

Remove bauble hanger.

Gently feed a festive pipe cleaner into the bauble. The pipe cleaner will take on the shape of the bauble. If it’s not quite sitting how you’d like, use a skewer to gently reposition parts of the pipe cleaner as necessary.

Replace bauble hanger.

Hang with red ribbon.

DIY Winter White Glass Christmas Ornament

  • Fillable Glass or Plastic Christmas Ornament
  • Artificial Snow – This stuff’s available all over the place, including The Range (£1.49 for an 85g bag)
  • Plastic Christmas Tree Branch – Try the Christmas sections of Lidl or Aldi
  • White Ribbon to hang
  • Snowflake embellishment (optional) – I used a piece of snowflake table confetti, but you could use anything – glue it on, tie it with a ribbon, any way you like!

Remove bauble hanger.

Pour a little fake snow into the bauble – I used rolled up paper.

Add your plastic tree branch.

Replace bauble hanger.

Embellish if desired.

Hang with white ribbon.

DIY Pink Ribbon Christmas Ornament

  • Fillable Glass or Plastic Christmas Ornament
  • Pretty ribbon – I used 1 inch / 2.5cm Pink Ribbon I had in my stash
  • Pink Ribbon to hang

Remove bauble hanger.

Gently feed one end of your ribbon into the bauble. Similar to the pipe cleaner, the ribbon will gather in the shape of the bauble. If you don’t like it, it’s easy to re-start or jiggle things around a bit with a skewer.

When it’s filled to where you want, snip off the other end of the ribbon.

If your ribbon is heavy enough to “pool” at the bottom of the bauble and you’d rather it filled the space, simply hold it in place with a little glue to the inside top of the bauble. If, like me, you’ve spied an opportunity to change up your colours year-on-year, then you might want to use blu tack – that way you can empty and re-use your baubles. Genius!

Replace bauble hanger.

Hang with pink ribbon.

Et Voilá!

Three gorgeous Christmas ornaments for your festive decorating.

A hui hou,

With love from @SuzyHomemakerUK
