Friday 20 March 2015 is a very important day. Not only does today’s Spring Equinox herald the arrival of astronomical spring, it’s also The World of Suzy Homemaker’s 1st Birthday!
Happy Birthday to me!
Hello, thank you and welcome to all my lovely new subscribers!
As if that wasn’t enough, today also saw my first topless outing of the year.
In the MX-5, of course, naughty!
It was BEA-U-tiful out there; perfect lid-down weather.
Oh yeah…. and there was also the small matter of a solar eclipse… only the largest of its size to hit the UK since 1999!
Meh. That was SO last century.
If you somehow managed to miss it, take a look at the BBC’s stunning coverage where, reporting from an airplane over the Faroe Islands, Liz Bonnin gives a great user-friendly account of this morning’s breathtaking natural phenomenon.
Meanwhile, back down to earth, spring has well and truly arrived at OneandSeventy.
Highland check has been replaced with a fresh springtime theme, complete with eggs.
My Ostara Mantel features daffodils and camellias straight from the garden, brand new artwork and a little hoard from Dunelm, including blossom branches, a heart motif milk bottle, hen eggcup and THE cutest ceramic lovebirds.
Even Stanley’s had a mini-makeover!
Elsewhere, the sofas have been refreshed with lush new cushion covers, also from Dunelm.
Seriously, who doesn’t love Dunelm?
I was so excited to change the covers, I didn’t even stop to iron them! Ooops! Ah well… a little body heat will soon sort that out!
The canvases on the mantel are a couple of Suzy specials, which I knocked up last night using watercolour pencils.
I’ve become a bit of a fan of those pencils, after my very first go at watercolour painting as part of this year’s #springtimesurpriseproject turned out so well. Before that, I honestly don’t think I would’ve even attempted something like this and I’m thrilled with the result.
I hope your Ostara has been full of sunshine and heralds the start of a wonderful new season for you.
A hui hou,
