My Halloween decor is heavily inspired by myth, magic, and fantasy. No wonder then that one of my favourite TV series ever is Merlin.
I absolutely love this BBC production and almost hyperventilated when I saw it was being re-run on SyFy. The best bit? It’s on every weekday, which means I get a daily dose of Halloween inspiration over our evening meal.
Marvellous!
The only problem is, I keep hitting the pause button to take photos.
Sorry Beloved!
If I could transport Gaius and Merlin’s home into the OneandSeventy kitchen for Halloween, I would be one very happy witch. So I’ve made a start recreating some of the ideas I’ve seen in the series.
With a Suzy H twist, of course.
Take these budget finds, for example. They already look like they belong on the set of Merlin, but when I spotted the vase on the right in a charity shop shelf, I immediately saw it as a creepy medieval ashes urn.
One spooky-looking evil eye later, made with air-dry clay and these brilliant eyes (which incidentally, fit perfectly into the sockets of a life-size human skull) and this humble pot has been transformed into a prop worthy of Gaius’s apothecary.
What do you think?
It’s amazing how year-round tellybox can be such a rich source of Halloween inspiration and you can expect more Merlin-inspired project over the coming months.
Sadly, we’re almost into the final series of Merlin but never fear… Game of Thrones returns soon and the pause button will be in demand again.
Sorry Beloved!
