Yep! Summer’s finally arrived!
That may seem like old news already, but if you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that in my world, we celebrate the changing of the seasons the old fashioned way – astronomically, rather than meteorologically. If you’re wondering what on earth I’m going on about, I explain all in this post from last year.
OK, so I’m still a little late to the party, but I have a good excuse…honest! Beloved and I have been away again. We spent the Solstice weekend celebrating the union of England and Scotland at our Besties’ wedding!
We don’t scrub up too badly, huh?

This stunning wedding took place in the magnificent Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire and was a truly fitting way to herald the arrival of the most anticipated season of the year.
For us, it was the last of four very important weddings in 12 months. As someone pointed out, all we need now is a funeral and we’ll have the full set.
No thanks! I don’t want one of those!
It’s no wonder we feel like we haven’t stopped in months. In the last 8 weeks alone, between weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and our holiday, we’ve spent 6 weekends either travelling or staying in hotels.
Ooooh! Get us jet setters!
After all the excitement, life is slowly returning to normal – and that includes the good ole British weather, it seems. It was so cold yesterday, our heating kicked in!
Clearly, Mother Nature hasn’t received the memo about wall-to-wall sunshine.
Thankfully, the sun is shining inside OneandSeventy.
Somehow, in amongst all that travelling (oh yes and a little thing called work!), I’ve managed to switch up my decor and inject a little bit of summer here and there.
I do love to style the seasons, even if the backdrop isn’t always how I’d like it. But hey – I’m only human! As much as it pains me to say it, sometimes I have to remove my Wonder Woman costume and realise that even I can’t do everything at once.
You heard it here first.
With our time taken up elsewhere, all home improvements have been put on the back burner for a while. But who knows? With just a few more weekends away in the diary for the rest of the year, maybe I’ll actually have time to get that hallway decorated!

Why have a candle, when you can have a yacht?
A sparkly yacht at that!

Even Stanley’s got his summer on, sporting genuine macadamia nut and shell leis from Hawaii. Aloha!
